This is a MUST READ for all candidates, who are currently seeking for
admission into the University of Ilorin,
especially candidates who selected the academic institution as their first
choice tertiary institution and sat for the school’s post UME screening
exercise. You need to see this.
According to information released by the Admission Officer of the University
of Ilorin, Mr. Mansur Alfanla, where he advised prospective admission seekers to
be wary of people of dubious character, saying that, anybody who is requesting
for any payment to process candidates admission into the University should be
regarded as a fraudster.
He disclosed this information on Tuesday, when he was also featured on a Yoruba
programme entitled “Oro to n lo” on Unilorin 89.3 FM, where he pointed out that
admission is not for sale at the University of Ilorin and that the management of
the University would not listen to any one who comes crying foul that they were
cheated to believing that they have bought admission into the school.
When asked, Mr. Alfanla disclosed another important information when he was
responding to a question on the cut-off mark for this year’s admission exercise,
saying that University of Ilorin Senate board is yet to make any pronouncement
on this, while he stood his ground, maintaining that the University have always
keeps to the principle of fair play and equity by only giving admission to the
candidates who meet the admission requirements of the academic institution.
The Unilorin admission officer disclosed that the tertiary institution would
admit about 8,000 candidates for the new academic session, pointing out,
however, that the University management was working towards increasing the
figure, since the school has the capacity to carry more students than this, but
this is the ratio given to them.
When asked why the school will ONLY be offering admission to 8000 students,
out of the thousands, he went further to explain that the number of students
that would be admitted for the 2015/2016 session is subject to the directive of
the National Universities Commission (NUC), Mr. Alfanla appealed to governments
at all levels to provide needed facilities for the nation’s universities in
order to increase their carrying capacities for them to be able to admit more
students.
He said that the University of Ilorin had recently introduced over 13 new
courses as well as created more Departments to accommodate more students into
the most patronised university in Nigeria. According to him, some of the newly
accredited courses include Criminology, Computer Engineering, Computer
Education, and Public Administration, among others.
