In compliance with the directive of Chief of Army Staff, Major General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, the Nigerian troops have increased the tempo of their offensive, leading to the killing of many terrorists during a recent combat operation along Dikwa-Maiduguri Road in Borno State.
General Buratai while renaming the counter-insurgency operation to “Operaton Zaman Lafiya Dole,” had urged the troops not to wait for Boko Haram to attack but to take the battle to the insurgents’ hideout.

Nigeria has only one university in African top 10 lista

Only one Nigerian university has made it to the list of top 10 African universities, a rating that has six South African schools.
In a ranking released Tuesday, Nigeria’s University of Ibadan came a distant eighth on the top 10 list, beaten by schools from South Africa, Kenya and Egypt.

All across the country, young African-American students attend schools that pay homage to those who fought to keep their people enslaved.
Following last month's racially charged shooting at a historically black church in Charleston, South Carolina, there have been renewed calls to limit the display of the Confederate flag and rename public spaces named for Confederate leaders. At least 195 public schools around the country have names that memorialize Confederate soldiers, leaders or politicians, according to a Huffington Post analysis of National Center for Education Statistics data from the 2012-13 and 2013-14 school years.

Federal Poly Idah Engineering Courses Suspended By NBTE

                

The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has suspended admission of students into all engineering programmes at the Federal Polytechnic, Idah, Kogi State.
According to a statement issued by the NBTE Public Relation Officer, Malam Suleiman Gwarzo, the suspension was as a result of a petition by National Diploma (ND) students of the polytechnic.

Students and alumni of the city’s troubled Canadian International School have called for a public apology from the school’s management over the recent dismissal of nine teachers as the furore over the school’s governance continues.
